50% of Fiesta reservations from non Ford owners

The Chicago Tribune has an interesting article on Fords sales increase in February. What caught my eye was this quote:
He noted that more than 50 percent of the reservations to purchase the Ford Fiesta, a small car that goes on sale later this year, came from customers who didn’t own a Ford vehicle.
I have to wonder if at least part of that is due to Toyota’s recent troubles
